Gillian and Greg

We met 15 years ago whilst working at a local florist in Scotland. Soon after becoming friends we realized there was something more and 13 years ago we began dating. We got married 1 week ago after 2 years of engagement and knew that our honeymoon would be somewhere in the Caribbean but it was only due to a recommendation from a very loyal customer of Rendezvous that we chose here for our honeymoon. We are enjoying our time together—it’s nice not to have distractions like TV and music everywhere and we have met with lots of other couples.

Loving our honeymoon so far!

An Unexpected Romance

It was my best friend’s 50th birthday party. She was very excited as she hoped to see her brother there. She had not seen him for a number of years as he worked in the Middle East and we lived in the UK.
A few days before her party she was disappointed to learn that her brother couldn’t make it after all. However, he had paid for two return tickets to fly to Dubai for his sister and a friend. He planned to take annual leave and would show his sister “the sights”.
My friend thought the world of her brother and told be what a lovely guy he was…and good looking too! She told me about the holiday in Dubai and asked if I wanted to join her. So I was thrilled.
On the night of my friend’s birthday party, guess what… he turned up and I have to say, I was rather disappointed as he didn’t appear to match the picture painted by his sister at all! He was not bad looking but rather short and starting to go bald. But no worries, I was getting a free holiday from him!
During the holiday, I got to know John (my brothers friend) really well as we stayed in his apartment in Dubai. He was so kind and attentive. He took us everywhere including a weekend at Snoopy Rock; renting a chalet on the beach and barbeque dinners in the evening.
At the end of the holiday, it was my 50th birthday and John had arranged a special dinner at a Polynesian restaurant, with cake and candles. When we returned to his apartment there was champagne and presents galore; we kissed for the first time.
After I returned to the UK, John came to visit. We were engaged and married the following year. We have had 16 happy years together… well, mostly happy!

Young Love

We met when we were 16 and 17 years old and fell in love almost immediately. Not necessarily with everyone’s good wishes, we were married at 19 and 20! With the words “It will never last” ringing in our ears from some, we took on life as a married couple. We quickly became parents to a beautiful baby girl and life together continued.

Navy life was tough, especially for the ones left at home but we got through. A second beautiful daughter arrived, life continued and got even better.

Now, at our 40th year of marriage, things could not be better. We have each other, of course, two gorgeous girls and two amazing grandsons. We still adore each other and we say “I love you” every day. We look forward to many more happy years!

And they said it wouldn’t last…

Mr & Mrs. Reading

In 1987, having been together for a year, we found ourselves with a few extra pounds and wanted to treat ourselves to a special holiday.

We chose Couples St. Lucia (now known as Rendezvous) and it was the best decision that we ever made.

We had a perfect holiday in a perfect location in a perfect hotel with such happy and friendly staff.

So smitten were we that we returned the following year (1988)

In November 1989 we returned again with the idea to get married on the beach which at the time was not heard of.

With 4 guests that we had met and made friends with on the outward plane journey and a Chat with Couples management. All was set for a 1:30 pm ceremony at the beach on November 14th, 1989. It was the most romantic ceremony that one can ever imagine. Beautiful floral arrangements and the perfect wedding back drop made the entire celebration seem surreal.

After the ceremony, we headed back to the restaurant for champagne and a lovely cake made in the kitchens.

Our final journey to Couples was in April 1991 and once again left with the most precious memories. With Couples being child free we were unable to return with the arrival over the following 5 years of our 3 children.

Undeterred we returned to other St. Lucian hotels with our family but never returned to Couples.

Having promised ourselves and our children, we really hope to return one day soon and introduce them to our favourite destination and hotel .

2019 will see us celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and our dream would be to spend it at Rendezvous with our children and their partners, remembering the special moment when we exchanged our vows on Vigie  Beach.  Heaven ……

Greatest Love Stories – Cleopatra and Mark Antony

The true love story of Antony and Cleopatra is one of the most memorable, intriguing and moving of all times. The story of these two historical characters had later been dramatized by William Shakespeare and is still staged all over the world.

Brilliant to look upon and to listen to, with the power to subjugate everyone.” That was the description of Cleopatra, queen of Egypt. She could have had anything or anyone she wanted, but she fell passionately in love with the Roman General Mark Antony.

The relationship of Antony and Cleopatra is a true test of love and as Shakespeare depicts it, their relationship was volatile. They fell in love at first sight. The bond between these two powerful people put the country of Egypt in a powerful position. But their love affair outraged the Romans who were wary of the growing powers of the Egyptians. Despite all the threats, Anthony and Cleopatra got married. It is said that while fighting a battle against Romans, Antony got false news of Cleopatra’s death. Shattered, he fell on his sword. When Cleopatra learned about Antony ‘s death, she was shocked. And she took her own life. Great love demands great sacrifices.
